Work out the GST on any room tariff in seconds, using India's current slabs (effective 22 September 2025).
Use the declared tariff, not the discounted price.
Rates reflect the GST structure effective 22 September 2025 (rooms up to ₹1,000 at 0%, ₹1,001–₹7,500 at 5% without input tax credit, above ₹7,500 at 18% with ITC). GST is levied on the declared tariff per night, even if a discount is given. This calculator is a guide, not tax advice — confirm the current rate and your ITC eligibility with your accountant.
GST on hotel accommodation is decided by the declared room tariff per night. As of 22 September 2025, rooms up to ₹1,000 a night attract 0% GST, rooms from ₹1,001 to ₹7,500 attract 5% (with no input tax credit), and rooms above ₹7,500 attract 18% (with input tax credit). The earlier 12% slab for mid-range rooms was removed in this revision — a meaningful saving for budget and mid-segment properties.
The rate is based on the declared tariff, not the price after a discount. So if your published tariff is above ₹7,500 and you offer a deal that brings the guest's payment below ₹7,500, GST is still charged at 18%.

Since 22 September 2025: rooms up to ₹1,000 per night are taxed at 0%, rooms from ₹1,001 to ₹7,500 at 5% (without input tax credit), and rooms above ₹7,500 at 18% (with input tax credit). The earlier 12% slab was removed.
On the declared tariff per night, before any discount. If your declared tariff is above ₹7,500 but you give a discount that brings the paid amount below ₹7,500, the 18% rate still applies because it's based on the declared tariff.
The per-night tariff for a single room decides the GST slab. The rate is then applied to the full room charge (tariff × rooms × nights).
ITC is available only on rooms taxed at 18% (tariff above ₹7,500). At the 5% slab, no input tax credit is available. Confirm your eligibility with your accountant.
